Walter Stephen Marrero, a cherished soul whose warmth, wisdom, and determination touched all who knew him, peacefully entered into rest on July 17, 2026, at the age of 69.

Born on December 29, 1956, Walter lived a life defined by a quiet strength, a profound passion, and an unwavering grit that he applied to everything he held dear. Throughout his journey, he brought a steady light into the world, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Walter shared a beautiful and lasting marriage of 49 years with his beloved wife, Sharon Marrero. Together, they built a life rich in love, devotion, and shared memories, creating a beautiful foundation for the family they adored. From their deep bond came their three children, who were Walter’s immense pride and joy.

A man of meaningful pursuits, Walter found true fulfillment in life’s finest moments. He was known for finding solace in a peaceful afternoon, immersing himself in the pages of history books, and passionately cheering on LSU football games. A true ice cream connoisseur, he also delighted in the simple sweetness of life, always sharing a smile, a thoughtful conversation, and laughter with those he loved. His legacy is one of gentle lessons, enduring kindness, and a life beautifully and intentionally lived.

Walter’s memory will be forever treasured by his devoted wife, Sharon; their three loving children, Kelly Patrickus (Paul), Robert Marrero, and Daniel Marrero (Sheena); his seven adored grandchildren, Robert Jr. (23), Angelina (21), Natashia (20), Avalynne (19), Luke (18), Scarlette (14), and Jordan (14); and his brothers, Thomas (Maria) Marrero and Alan (Rae) Marrero. He also leaves behind his six cherished nephews and four nieces, as well as a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends who will carry his spirit forward in their hearts.

Walter now rests in peace, reunited with those who passed before him, including his parents, Louis and Evelyn; his sister, Audrey; his niece, Kristin; his sister-in-law, Mary; his parents-in-law, Robert and Mary Vladika; as well as other loving relatives.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held in his honor.
