She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Collins & by her parents Vince & Ann Vlack.

Virginia attended Central School in Westmont, & then Downers Grove High School where she met her future husband & graduated in 1943.

Growing up, she enjoyed bicycling & at school she liked music classes & learning to sing.  She could sing parts of those songs  90 years later; never loudly, but with a little smile.

Virginia waited for Joe to come back from serving in the war & they married after his return.  In their wedding pictures, they look like a movie star couple of the era.  They enjoyed road trips together until Joe’s his untimely death,  at age 32.

As a young widow, Virginia lived with her parents & worked as a secretary, first in Chicago, later in Downers Grove & took train & bus trips with her late friend Stephanie.

After retirement she participated in classes & activities offered by the local park district, including crafts & Tai chi.

Virginia was that rare individual who never cheated anyone, & was never greedy, cruel nor demanding.  In her quiet way, she did what was necessary to support herself & was always grateful for the kindnesses & good things life offered her.

She will be missed & mourned by her many cousins & by friends & former neighbors.

 A visitation will be held on Monday October 9, 2023, 9:00 a.m. at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 4920 N.
