Ronald B. “Ron” Aiello

February 21, 2021
Ronald B. Aiello, 86, of Elmhurst,  as he would say “bought the farm” on February 18, 2021. He passed away peacefully at home, on his own terms, listening to the song “MY WAY”, with his loving family by his side.
Ron graduated from Morton High School in 1952 and attended Morton Junior College. In 1953, he joined the United States Marine Corps.  After serving in the Marines, he worked at HotPoint Company where he met the love of his life, and married Lu Galasso.
Ron and Lu raised four devoted daughters who brought him great joy.
In 1969, he founded Sun Realty, Inc. and attained a Certified Residential Broker (CRB) designation. He moonlit at his family’s Cicero Tavern, The Villa Lounge for over three decades, where he was known as “Ronnie from the Villa”.
In 1993, “Poppy” was given his most famous title when he became a grandfather for the first of nine grandchildren. He spent the last 27 years of his life devoted to all of them and spoke to them every day, at any hour until his last day. In his own unique, unfiltered and witty way, he imparted on them the importance of duty, loyalty to family, and timeless street wisdom.
Watching The Three Stooges and trips to Freddy’s or Gina’s Italian Ice will never be the same.
Beloved husband of Lu Aiello (nee Galasso) for 61 years. Loving father of Joy (Randy) Andresen, Julie (Jerry) Iavarone, Jana (Sean) Maher and Jill (Marty) Schiller.  Proud and beloved Poppy to Anthony (Mikaela), Joseph, Michael, Ryan, Dylan, Rachel, Mady, Lindsey and Chloe. Beloved brother of the late John “Ske” (the late Carmella) Aiello, the late Gloria (the late Rocco) DeCarlo.
