Richard E. “Rich” Smith, 90, longtime resident of Oak Park, IL, at rest December 22, 2022. Born August 15, 1932 in Wellsburg, West Virginia to Gale and Ida Hazel McKitrick Smith. Beloved husband of the late Rose Fauci Smith, loving father of Richard II “Ricky”; dearest brother of Dora Rae Morris, Jack Lee Smith, Thomas Smith, Carol Sue Giles, Charles Ernest Smith, Sheila Kay Turner, Pamela Griffith, Jodi Pramesa and Melissa Kemp;  dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife Rose; his parents; brothers Herman “Spook” Smith and Clifford “Chip” Smith and sister Patricia “Pat” Smith. Rich was an avid Chicago sports fan, which he passed on to his son, Ricky. Funeral Mass Friday January 6, 2022 at 10 A.M. at Ascension Catholic Church 808 S. East Ave., Oak Park.
