Mary Curran
Mary Curran, nee Coleman, age 65, of Chicago. Loving mother of Michael (Kaylee) Curran; cherished grandmother of Lillian Curran and Sean Curran; dedicated sister of Patrick (Sandra) Coleman, Ellen Coleman, Daniel (Heather) Coleman, James Coleman, Michael (Elisabeth) Coleman, the late Edward (and Tia) Coleman; adored daughter of the late Edward and Patricia (Garrity) Coleman; sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, and cousin of many.
Mary was born in Chicago, IL and raised by her mom and dad in Cicero, IL along with six siblings. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Charity, Morton East High School, and Morton College. Never afraid to work, Mary held many jobs throughout her life from Dental Assistant, American Airlines Gate Agent, USPS Letter Carrier, Naperville School District Teachers Aide, and a proud union employee of the Illinois Tollway for an impressive 17 years.
Mary adored her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. She was a proud Mom to Michael, Mother-In-Law to Kaylee, and Grandma to Lillian and Sean. Mary loved Michael and Kaylee’s passion for playing the drums, especially the “drum-off” at their wedding and traveled often to watch their bands. She was Michael’s biggest supporter and fan. Mary loved playing with Lillian and Sean, and in awe of their energy and imagination.
Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed shopping, thrifting, live music, and all things Irish. She enjoyed finding a good deal, and was the best gift-giver, really thinking of the perfect gift for everyone. Mary loved live music. She would see a singer or band by herself but preferably with a group of family and friends. Some of her favorites included John Prine, Robert Palmer, Paul Weller, and The Jam. She was proud of her Irish heritage, immersed herself in Irish events, and traveled to Ireland and experienced her culture.
Mary’s gentle demeanor always saw the best in everyone.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, 12:00pm to 4:00pm, at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home, 4920 Main St., Downers Grove, IL 60515. Chapel services will commence at 4:00pm. Mary was such a sweet person and thought of others before herself. She had a wonderful smile and was always on her face; it was great to always see her due to her beautiful smile. Rest in Peace, Mary
