Marvin D. Johnson, 79, of Westmont, at rest December 9, 2022 at Lexington of Lombard. Born February 14, 1943 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Alden and Lillian Johnson. Marvin proudly served his country in the United States Armed Forces. Beloved husband of Leslie (nee Friedrich); loving brother of Lorraine (James) Bretthauer; dearest uncle of Amy (Jimmy) Gresham and Jim II (Christine) Bretthauer; dear great uncle of Ellie, Hogan and Eden. Marv served Meals on Wheels for 19 years and was a member of the VFW. Marvin Johnson, my brother-in-law, was always kind and considerate to me. The bumper sticker on his car tells you of his personality: “Have a great day”. When he was dating my sister so many years ago, he was very shy. When he came to pick her up he would knock on the door then stand outside to wait for her (which sometimes was quite a while!). Mother had the idea to place a chair just inside the door and eventually convinced him to come inside.
Though I live far away I visited with him a couple of times this past year. He was always upbeat and pleased to see me.
