Louise S. Lewanski
Louise S. Lewanski (nee Ciesielski), 94, longtime resident of Downers Grove, at rest March 17, 2020. Born January 16, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Benedict and Johanna Ciesielski. Beloved mother of Bonita “Bonnie” (David) Wisbrock, Victoria (Thomas) Jones, Christine Lewanski and Richard Lewanski; devoted grandmother of Keri, John, Dan, Donna, Dave, Nikki, Justin, Gabrielle, Richie and Hannah; dearest great grandmother of 21. and her loyal companions, past and present, Chipper, Brandon, Willow, Demon and Penny. Louise was a longtime member of the Downers Grove Ladies Auxiliary Alexander Bradley Burns Post 80, where she was a former sergeant at arms and chaplain. She was formerly employed with Kmart as a retail clerk and the Sybaris in Downers Grove as head housekeeper. Louise had a love for gardening as well as crocheting, playing cards, bingo and puzzles. I remember her smile. I never saw her tears. She was the strongest person I knew. When things went wrong she was the calm in the storm. Everyone called her mom, whether they were family or friend. I miss her more than I thought I ever could.
Life was hard, she took it in stride. I learned to be strong by watching her being with her, and now while missing her.
Wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend. Always with a smile, always willing to help.
