John Svitak, 84, longtime resident of Westmont, at rest March 23, 2022. Proud United States Navy Veteran. Beloved husband of the late Sharon (nee Mooney); loving father of Chris (Kelly), John David and Cheryl (Robert) Davis; devoted grandfather of Kimberly Svitak, Emma, Haylee and Rayna Davis and the late James. John was an avid coffee drinker, loved sports especially baseball and football and was a longtime volunteer in the Village of Westmont. Memorial Visitation Saturday March 26, 2022 from 10-1 P.M. followed by funeral services at 1 P.M. at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home & Cremation Services 39 N. Cass Ave., Westmont. Salute for one that is to be respected and have found some of the more important things in life for us to enjoy, like going to the Dead Poets Society at the coffee shop in Westmont and various Westmont festivals, where we found more about life to appreciate.
We’ll especially remember his humor that can be understood when asking him, “What was the name of the boat you were assigned?” He replied, in a courteous and firm corrective manner, “It’s not a boat, it’s a SHIP.”
