James R. Holmes, age 71, of Joliet, at rest September 14, 2018 at Hines VA Hospital. Proudly served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam era. Born July 25, 1947 in Charleston, West Virginia to Ira and Elizabeth Holmes. Beloved father of Beverly Glass, James and John Holmes and Alicia (Jason) Cunniff; loving grandfather of Anthony & Joshua Cunniff and Gabby, Jessica and Ceirra Holmes and Trey McKenzie. I did not get the honor to meet this gentlemen, but I know he is kind, heart is full of love, and cares for everybody. How do I know? Because I have the pleasure of working with his step daughter, Beverly, that he raised. I know she has all these traits, so she must of learned them from somewhere, because they don’t come natural. May you rest in piece.
Praying for all of James family. I have had the pleasure of meeting him. I so happy my niece Alicia Cunniff was able to get to know and spend time with him. She got a father and a grandfather for her sons. I saw her happiness in finally finding and knowing him. It may not have been as long as she needed and wanted, but God has his plans for James.
