Henry Genovaldi

August 10, 1943 – February 9, 2026

With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Henry Genovaldi, who passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 82. Henry passed peacefully surrounded by family.

Born on August 10, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Adelle and Anthony Genovaldi, Henry was proud of his Chicago roots. He grew up in the city, attended Lane Tech High School, and later joined the United States Army, serving his country with honor. His years in the Army were a meaningful part of his life and reflected his strength and sense of duty.

In his prime, Henry enjoyed bowling, playing golf, taking road trips to Michigan, swimming, fishing, BBQing, and watching his favorite TV shows and movies. After his time in the military, he met his wife, Abra (Abby), and they shared nearly 40 years of marriage until her passing in 2008. While living in Downers Grove, Henry worked in sales merchandising for several years, later joining the Morton Arboretum, where he often remarked he wished he had worked there years earlier.

A true Chicagoan at heart, Henry loved discussing the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Whether talking about a big game, a tough season, or hopeful predictions for the next year, he always had something to say. He had a genuine sense of wonder about the world and a gift for humor — he loved cracking jokes, sharing stories, and making people laugh. His warmth and humor made everyone around him feel instantly comfortable.

After Abra’s passing, Henry moved between Naperville, Illinois, and Surprise, Arizona, where he spent his final years.

Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Abra and is survived by his son Anthony (Annette) and their stepson Michael; his son Daniel and his daughters Isabella and Milena; his daughter Dena (Michael) Carrozzo and their children Ariana and Ava. Henry leaves behind is one older brother, James. Henry’s family was his pride and joy and he cherished every moment he spent with them.
