Georgetta Jablonski
Georgetta Gentry Jablonski, (nee Lane) 95 years of age, passed away peacefully October 27, 2018 at home in Darien with family by her side. Loving daughter to the late William and Eliza Lane, and dearest sister to the late Jennie Lane. Beloved wife to the late Frank Jablonski.
Loving and devoted mother to Donald Gentry, Barbara (Robert) Hess, John Gentry, preceded in death by Bruce Gentry (2017). Proud grandmother to Brittany Hess (Joe) Levy and very proud great-grandmother to Natalie Levy.
Born August 21,1923 in Indianapolis, she grew up in Champaign Urbana and later relocated to Chicago. After graduating from high school, Georgetta joined the United States Coastguard and served her country proudly during WWII. She worked over 25 years at Travelers Aid and Immigrant Services, a nonprofit organization. Retired at 62, she moved to Petersburg, FL in 1989 and that become her second home until 2011.
She contributed and participated with many veteran organizations throughout her life. Her passion was enjoying sports, especially college football games, the Chicago Bears, and her favorite baseball team, the Chicago White Sox. Relaxation was listening to country music, reading, movies, Broadway plays, and walking along the sandy beaches with her family.
Inurnment, November 16, 2018, 12:00pm, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Her son, Bruce Gentry will be laid to rest next to her on the same day and time.
