Diane M. Plunkett (nee Elkin), 59, at rest, suddenly, October 20, 2021 at her home in Westmont. Formerly of Downers Grove, Diane was born on December 2 1961 in Oak Lawn, Il and raised in Chicago Heights, IL. She was extremely devoted to her family and enjoying restoring household items. Beloved wife of Patrick; loving mother of David Elkin and Payton Plunkett; devoted daughter of Marilyn Hofeld and the late James Elkin; dearest sister of Debbie (Steve) O’Brien, Bill, Jolene and the late James Elkin; dear aunt of Jamie, Amiee, Nina (Mishka), Joe and Gio; fond daughter-in-law of Eula Mecking. Diane and I were friends for over 40 years. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was the most kind hearted, hard working person I have ever met, with a very deep devotion to her family. My heart goes out to them. This is a terrible loss of a very special person. I will never forget her.
I will miss my dear friend with every passing season. I moved next door three years ago Oct. 28. I had finally found my soul mate, the Lucy to my Ethel. We shared the same passions for gardening, DIY and getting a deal on MarketPlace. She would do anything for someone she loves. Her smile, her generosity and sweet disposition will truly be missed.
