Dale Becker

May 22, 2026

Dale E. Becker, age 83, a longtime resident of Westmont, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026. He was born on September 23, 1942, in Chicago to the late John and Marion (nee Triggs) Becker.

Beloved husband of the late Maryellen Becker (nee Wood); loving father of Karen (Michael) Byron and Michael (Danielle) Becker; devoted grandfather of Veronica, Sydney, Kyle, Theodore, and Hailey; beloved brother of John Lee (Margaret) Becker, Marie (Charles) Lindsey, and the late Bruce Becker; and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Dale attended Our Lady Help of Christians (Chicago), Monroe Elementary School, St. Isaac Jogues, Hinsdale Central High School, and the College of DuPage. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 in Germany as a Military Police officer.

Prior to his military service, Dale worked at City National Bank and Continental Bank, where he met Maryellen. He later held positions with Burlington Northern Railroad, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, Loop Personnel Employment Agency, Sun Drugs, and Briggs Transportation before settling into a career as a union commercial carpenter for more than 30 years, including nearly 10 years with Stein Roe & Farnham.

While his children attended Holy Trinity School and for many years afterward, Dale generously volunteered his time and talents to the school and parish, serving on the school board, maintenance and administrative committees, and coaching girls’ basketball. He coordinated and recruited volunteers for many memorable projects, such as installing a new school and church roof, updating the school basement electrical system, maintaining three oil boilers and later helping convert the system to gas, constructing the Pow Wow Days float, and creating the Fun Fair haunted house. Dale also served on the Village of Westmont Planning Commission and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus.

In Dale’s later years, he valued spending time with family and watching his grandchildren excel both academically and athletically. He did his best to pass along a few life lessons while faithfully keeping up with their sports updates and following GameChanger.

Dale was a true force of nature—strong in his convictions, genuine in spirit, sensible in judgment, and always there when someone needed him. He will be greatly missed.
