Cecelia “Cathy” C. Sims (née Riley), 67 years old, of Downers Grove, IL (formerly Royal Oak, MI) passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 26th, 2026. Cathy was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Sims. Loving mother to Ashley (Diego) Diaz, and the proud and cherished grandmother to Eli and Mila.
Cathy was a successful financial specialist, an enthusiast of crafting, and enjoyed giving back to her community and charities. Cathy had an appreciation of nature, enjoyed the outdoors and was an animal lover.
Above all else, Cathy was loyal, devoted and protective of her family. Family trips to the zoo, Walt Disney World, Mexico and a cruise to the Bahamas were highlights for Cathy and cherished memories for her family. Cathy was kind, caring, loving and courageous. Cathy was deeply loved by her family and will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home, 4920 Main St., Downers Grove, IL 60515. Chapel services are to commence at 4:00pm. The Sims family would ask that everyone please dress casually according to Cathy’s wishes. An inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
