Arthur Schlaman, 75, of Downers Grove, IL, passed away at home on July 3, 2026, surrounded by loving family members.

Art’s life was centered on his love and dedication to his family and his faith. Art leaves  behind his beloved wife, Joanne (Slepak) Schlaman; his children and stepchildren Arthur Schlaman III (Christine), Eric Schlaman, Kristen (Dave) Thomas, Rachel Fetters and Kevin (Kathy) Madden; and his sister Diana Schlaman.

Art also leaves a legacy of love for his grandchildren Katelynn  (John) Gevlin, Melissa Schlaman, Brittney (Christian) Carrillo, Derek Schlaman, Kyle Schlaman, Piper Schlaman, Alexis Schlaman, Riley Gray, Zoie Gray, Kylee (Joel) Morton, Myah Thomas, Jesse Fetters, Carson Fetters and Kian Madden; as well as six great grandchildren.

Art was born in Berwyn, IL to Arthur Schlaman, Sr. and Bernice (Hoffman) Schlaman. He served in the National Guard and was a dedicated policeman for the Village of LaGrange. He was a proud employee of Diamond Power International, Inc. for over 20 years until his retirement in 2014.

Art’s vibrant personality, humor, generosity and friendship to all he met will be dearly missed.

There will be a celebration of Art’s life on Monday, July 20 at Oak Brook Community Church, 3100 Midwest Road, Oak Brook, IL, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family invites all her knew him to attend and share their favorite memories.
