Raymond Seggelke
Raymond Michael Seggelke, 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida.
Ray was born April 12, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Cecil and Helen (Yanukenas) Seggelke. Soon they relocated to a farm near Warsaw, IL where Ray graduated from Warsaw High School in 1964.
After graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1970 becoming proficient in electronics and computers. After honorably serving, he attained his Associate of Science degree and then attended George Mason University in Virginia. He was employed by United States Geological Survey located In Alexandria, Virginia.
Later he moved his family to the St. Louis, Missouri area and was employed by
McDonnell Douglas Corporation. There he frequently traveled to Air Force and Air National Guard bases training military on flight simulators. When McDonnell Douglas was bought by Boeing Company, he was employed by them, again utilizing his technological, computer knowledge. Finally, he retired from American Power Conversion in St. Charles, MO.
Ray always enjoyed being outdoors and loved water skiing behind his boat on the Potomac River, fishing in Chesapeake Bay and hunting deer and turkey on his small farm in central Missouri. Ray was happy driving his corvette or riding his motorcycle. One additional joy was flying and was thrilled when he obtained his private pilot’s license and then purchased a plane. He always had large gardens and more recently enjoyed deep sea fishing in Florida.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, sister Grace Anne Boyle, sister-in-law Lorraine Seggelke and brother-in-law Bill Liddle.
He is survived by son Raymond, Jr. and wife Stacey, granddaughter Kayla, brother Ed Seggelke and wife Marcia, brother Harold Seggelke, sister Linda Kay Liddle, brother-in-law Larry Boyle and many great nieces, great nephews and friends.
Visitation Wednesday October 7, 2026 from 7-9 P.M. and Thursday morning from 9-10:30 A.M. at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home 39 N. Cass Ave., Westmont. Funeral Mass 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
