Yvonne Bonahoom

Yvonne Jane Bonahoom from Oakbrook Terrance Il, passed away peacefully at her home on July 24, 2024, doing her morning crossword puzzles from the NYTimes, which was her favorite pastime.

Yvonne was born on August 28th, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised in a family deeply rooted in their Lebanese heritage. Yvonne was preceded in death by her mother, Mintaha (Margaret) Saddy-Bonahoom, who immigrated from Lebanon with her family in the early 1890s, her father Habib (Hobby/Herbert) Bonahoom, and her brother, George J. Bonahoom. Yvonne cherished her mother most dearly throughout her life and has been interned with her mother and Father at St. Mary’s, Evergreen Park, IL.

Yvonne is survived by her brother, Ronald G. Bonahoom and her sister-in-law, Arlene Bonahoom. She also leaves behind her nephews/niece, Robert, Yvette, Anthony, Neil, and Patrick Bonahoom.

Yvonne had a special place in her heart for her nine great-nieces and nephews and eighteen great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom brought immense joy and light into her life. The refrigerator Picture set is unbelievable and tells the story!

Yvonne began her career in the biotech industry as a secretary and quickly advanced due to her diligence and work ethic. After graduating college, she was promoted to administrative assistant to the CEO. After receiving her Master’s Degree, her responsibilities grew and she was then promoted to Director of Operations, where she managed a division of the Company and the subsequent divestiture with professionalism, earning respect throughout the organization. Yvonne retired after nearly 40 yrs with the same organization

Yvonne traveled extensively in her early years and was passionate about travel, skiing and golf. Yvonne loved sharing the sports with her niece and nephews. She often challenged her nephews in golf, awarding a prize for the best game. Yvonne immensely enjoyed the sport of golf, despite her nephews regularly teasing her for not being very skilled at the game!

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation/gifts be made in her Honor to her favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN, Credo Music, Oberlin, OH, Christ Church of Oak Brook, OakBrook, IL, Samaritan’s Purse, Boone, NC
