
Tom Vana
Tom Alan Vana took his final walk up the 18th fairway surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He was 76.
Tom was born August 20, 1948 to Frank T. and LaVerne E. Vana (nee Wengler) in Oak Park. He graduated from Proviso East High School (‘66) and later from Northern Illinois University. He married his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Kathy, on Oct. 5, 1974. She survives him.
Tom loved travel, golf, the White Sox, lifelong summer trips to Minocqua, Wis., but most of all, his family. He loved nothing more than being with his kids and grandkids, at a meal or a sporting event, his greatest joy was being a Dad and Papa.
In addition to Kathy, he is also survived by sons Frank (Kelly) and Joe (Kris); daughters Katie (Rob) Manker and Elizabeth (Tim) McNelly; grandchildren Joey, Frankie (Lindsay), Anthony, James, Tori, Tommy, Ryan, Matthew, Katie, Brendan and sister Terry (Ron) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Tom’s request, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Community Support Services Inc. of Brookfield where Tom was an active supporter and advocate for handicapped and disabled adults.
