Thomas Allan Lachowiez

September 21, 2024

It is with great sadness that the Lachowiez family announce the sudden passing of Thomas A. Lachowiez. Soon to be known as Papa, Tom passed away with his wife by his side on Thursday September 19th, 2024, after a far too short fight against pancreatic cancer. He was 65 years old.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Merry Lachowiez; children: Margaree Carr and Paul Lachowiez; son-in-law: Joseph Carr; brothers and sisters: Robert Lachowiez, Cathy Przeklasa, John Lachowiez, and Amy Swanson; and his grandchild on the way. He was the beloved son of the late Anne Johnston and Robert Lachowiez.  He was loved and will be missed by numerous other relatives and friends.

Tom was born, raised, and spent most of his life living in the Chicago area but enjoyed many trips in his younger years and later on with family to the western United States. He enjoyed adventures of many types and had many grand plans in the works. Tom was passionate about history, which he enjoyed exploring both near and far and living it out through his 1942 Ford Jeep which he restored. He was known to go gallivanting with Paul, looking for antiques and any historical site he had yet to see. Tom also secretly enjoyed house projects with his daughter Margaree, even though he pretended to dislike them.

While Tom left us far too soon, the impact he had on our family and friends will be felt for years to come.

To honor Tom’s memory ashes will be spread in Glacier National Park and a celebration of life memorial will be held at a future date in 2025.
