Nancy Catalano

September 02, 2025

Nancy Catalano (nee Aglieri Rinella), devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, caring sister, and dearest friend, peacefully passed away on September 2, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. She was surrounded by the love of her family.

Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Giacomo & Mimi (nee Badali) Aglieri Rinella. Nancy was an exceptional sister and sister-in-law to Puruccia, the late Pino (Linda), the late Giovanni (Giusy), Totti (Eva), and sister-in-law to the late Sam (Pauline).  Nancy shared nearly 70 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joe Catalano. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love. Their bond was an enduring example of commitment and strength, admired by all who knew them.

She was the proud mother of three sons: Frank (Mary), Jim (Susan), and Tony (Sue). Her legacy continues through her 11 beloved grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Nancy was best known for her warmth, generosity, and the way she brought people together, especially around the dinner table. A phenomenal cook, Nancy took great pride in preparing homemade meals for her family, often hosting Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings for 20 or more people. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, filled with the smells of simmering sauces, fresh-baked cookies, and laughter that echoed through generations.

Her gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and deep love for her family created a home where everyone felt welcome and cherished. She had a special way of making people feel loved—with a meal, a hug, or a simple smile.

Visitation services will be held on Friday, September 5th, 2025, from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home, 4920 Main St., Downers Grove, IL.
