Marina Miguel, 88, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois after a brief illness.
Born on May 11, 1937 in Solsona Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Marina was the youngest daughter of the late Vicente Dancel and Eulalia (Tomas) Dancel. She attended Ilocos Norte High School in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, and later pursued her passion for helping others by earning a nursing degree from Manila Central University. Marina devoted nearly five decades to her career in nursing.
In her free time, Marina enjoyed trips to the casino and trying her luck with the lottery, never losing faith that one day she’d hit it big. Her greatest happiness, however, came from her family. She was especially proud to be an aunt to more than fifty nieces and nephews, always ready to offer love and support. She also cherished her many pets, whom she considered her “children” and was a passionate sports fan who NEVER missed the chance to cheer on her beloved Chicago teams.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frederico, Pedro and Manuel Dancel and five sisters, Encarnacion Silvano, Rosa Ventura, Lucena Ericta, Gregoria Roberto and Consuelo Ramos. Marina is survived by her husband of 51 years, Tony Miguel.
