Lynn M. Turovetz
Lynn M. Turovetz, (nee Warner) 81 years old, of Lombard passed away with family by her side on Thursday, January 15, 2026, after an extended stay at Brookdale of Lisle Skilled Nursing Center. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Dale J. and Helen Warner (nee Kosieracki) She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Lynn is survived by her sons David (Carol) Turovetz, Brian Turovetz, daughter Elise Jay, grandchildren David Turovetz, Joshua Turovetz, and Justin (Casandra) Jay, brother Dale (Avelina) Warner, sister Norma (late Rodney) Matthews, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her former spouse, Eugene Turovetz.
Following a career as a medical laboratory technician, Lynn returned to school earning a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University. This propelled her into a long career as a counselor working with many clients to support their needs and supporting area crisis centers. She worked for the Pillars Community Services Western Springs office in many roles but retired from the organization as the VP of Crisis and Access.
In addition to her successful career, Lynn served as a Past-President of Illinois Counseling Association (ICA), and a Past-President of Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association (IMHCA). She received many recognitions including as the 2001 recipient of the IMHCA Distinguished Service as an Illinois Mental Health Counselor Award and as the 2002 recipient of the C.A. Michelman Award for outstanding service from the Illinois Counseling Association.
In her spare time, she presented regional training workshops as well as private tutoring sessions to prepare counselor candidates in preparation for their Licensed Counselor Exams. This work allowed the extension of her influence in the profession beyond her time in practice, and to ensure the quality of support for future generations.
Lynn was elected to the board of trustees for the Worth Public Library in 1980 to serve at a time when the library was in a financial crisis and faced drastic service cuts that would have severely impacted the village. She played a significant role in stabilizing the finances and turning the library around, including a major expansion of the facility and its services.
Lynn was an avid piano player, crochet and needlepoint aficionado, and loved to travel. Lynn will be deeply missed to all of those that knew her, but she will forever be loved and cherished as the memories of her live within our hearts.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 23rd from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home, 4920 Main Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Chapel eulogy services will commence at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 24th, 2026 at the funeral home from 9:30am to 10:00am with chapel funeral services starting at 10:00am.
