Lorette Koenig (nee Sherby), 90, of Downers Grove, at rest August 4, 2022. Born December 28, 1931 to Albert and Marie Sherby. Beloved wife of the late Eugene; loving mother of Kimberley and the late Nancy and David Koenig; dearest sister of Alberta Nykiel and the late Rita Decker; devoted aunt and godmother to Linda, Vonnie and Janet; aunt of Terry, Stan, Rocky, Bob and the late Diane. Visitation Monday August 8, 2022 from 4-8 P.M. at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home & Cremation Services 39 N. Cass Ave., Westmont. Funeral Services Tuesday 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Family was everything to Lorette. She had a special love for her all her family members including her goddaughters, nieces, and nephews. She had many friends in the neighborhood. She loved children. Lorette was known for her kind heart, loving spirit, and selflessness for others. She loved words and was an excellent speller, and even won her 8^th grade spelling championship. She was compassionate for the less fortunate and gave to many charities including food pantries, the homeless, veterans, and children’s organizations.
