Janet Rosetta Marco (nee Mertens)

1938-2024

 Janet Rosetta Marco passed away on September 10, 2024, at the age of 86, after a challenging battle with cancer.

A long- time resident of Downers Grove, Janet raised her three children there and spent many happy hours in the town’s parks and library.  She had a passion for gardening, and her yard was always filled with beautiful flowers and vegetables year after year. Recently, she moved to an apartment in Lisle, where she found joy watching the birds at her feeders.

Janet was an avid card player, excelling at games like gin Rummy and Poker, and was a skilled Scrabble enthusiast. A true animal lover, Janet was especially fond of her dachshund, Dolly, who was both a beloved companion and the most popular resident in her building.

Janet is survived by her three children, Lynda Waszak, Lisa Marco, and Frank Marco (Margaret).  Janet was a proud grandmother to Brandon Waszak (Sarah), Stacy (Christopher) Weeks, Jordynn Marco (Jesse Raco), Stephen Marco, Ryan Marco, and Abigail Marco, and a great-grandmother to Anthony and Raelyn. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Janet is preceded in death by her husbands, Allan J. Marco and John Irwin, her parents, Rudolph and Irene and her two brothers Lawrence and Charles.

A Memorial Service for family members will be held on Monday, September 16 at 11:30 AM at the West Suburban Funeral Home & Cremation Services 39 N. Cass Ave., Westmont.
