Domenick “Dick” DiTusa
Domenick Richard “Dick” DiTusa, 88, of Wood Dale, Illinois peacefully passed away on April 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Domenick is survived by his dear brother Tony DiTusa and his late sister Angela Gugleilmi. Domenick was the beloved husband to Margaret (nee Sproverio) of 67 beautiful years, Cherished father of Doris Wentzel and Margie (Robert) Logan, Dearest grandfather of Doris (Patrick) O’Meara, Michael (Alicia) Rohr, Dominick (Lauren) Logan, Dominque (Ricky) Villalobos, Margie (Christopher) Wrublik, and Devoted great grandfather to Dominick, Vincent & Gino Logan, Dominick & Antonio Villalobos, Elena & Vivien Rohr, Tessa & Braeden O’Meara, Bella & Katarina Wrublik. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Domenick’s family will forever cherish his memory and carry on his extraordinary legacy.
Domenick was born on August 29,1935 in Chicago, IL. Growing up in Chicago he attended Austin High School, where he excelled academically and triumphed at playing baseball. Domenick was rated as major baseball prospect out of high school because of his incredible power at the plate.
Domenick’s tremendous baseball talents propelled him into an amazing baseball career for the Chicago White Sox minor league club. Over the course of four career seasons, it was in 1956 that Domenick had his greatest season, hitting 37 home runs and drove in 115 runs for the Colorado Springs minor league club.
Domenick was known for his larger-than-life personality along with the smile and warmth he would bring when visiting with him. His passion for a nice full-bodied red wine and his love for Florida with his grandchildren and family will always be cherished by the ones who loved and adored him. He will also be remembered for his toughness and power not only on the baseball diamond but in the car business where he excelled and ran multiple dealerships in his career of over 30 years. Dick would always seek the best out of everyone, whenever someone sold a car, his catch phrase would be “Write it up”!
Domenick Richard “Dick” DiTusa touched and inspired the lives of so many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a one in a trillion man who made all those around him feel so very special. As he always said, “You are who you are” and without a doubt he was truly an amazing, wonderful man!
In honor of Domenick a visitation will be held from 9:00am to 11:30am on Saturday, April 6th Chapel Eulogy Services will begin at 11:30a.m. at Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home 4920 Main St, Downers Grove, IL, 60515. Entombment & Committal Services at Christ the King Mausoleum, Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
