Clyde R. Zimmer Jr, 90, at rest August 7, 2022, longtime resident of Lemont & Homer Township. Proud United States Army veteran. Born December 17, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Clyde Sr. and Mary Zimmer; loving brother of the late John; dearest uncle of Kelly and Peggy Zimmer; dear great uncle of Jennifer, Devan and Jacob. Clyde was retired from the Wabash Fiber Box Co. in Chicago. He was longtime member of the Lemont Oaks. As president of the Lemont Civil War Memorial Committee, Clyde was instrumental in building a memorial to honor Lemont’s Civil War Veterans. This memorial was dedicated in 2008 in Legion Park, at the east end of Main St., opposite the Metra Station. Visitation Friday August 12, 2022 from 9:00-10:30 A.M. at Gerharz-Cappetta Funeral Home 501 State St., Lemont. Funeral Mass 11 A.M. at St. Alphonsus Church. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery.
