Barbara Jean Brochmann

August 27, 2024

Barbara Jean Brochmann (nee Gray) of Downers Grove, IL, passed away at home on August 26, with her beloved husband and son at her side. She was 75 years old. She considered herself exceptionally fortunate, and lived each day full of love, gratitude, and appreciation for the simple things in life. She was married for 51 wonderful years to her high school sweetheart, soulmate, and best friend, Dan Brochmann. Her greatest joys included her son Jay (wife, Holly) and her granddaughter Bella, 8, with whom she shares the initials “BJB.” She is survived by her sister Peg Paluch (husband, Bob), brother Rick Gray (wife, Dianne), nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She lived a life full of energy and activity, always on the lookout for something to see and do. She loved children, dogs, nature, antique shops, garage sales, scrabble, and fishing trips with her family, to name a few. She was never idle, nor was her heart and her capacity to give. True to her “no frills, no fuss” nature, she chose to forego a memorial service and instead wished for friends and family to celebrate her long and happy life. Her memory can be honored with donations in her name to the Midwest Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc. (MLRR), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the Morton Arboretum  or  Tribute Program (clickandpledge.com)
