Janis Lynn (Doll) Sladek, age 66, of Glen Ellyn passed away quietly in the arms of her Savior, on Thursday, June 16th, 2022. She was surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. She was born on November 16th, 1955 to the proud parents of Charles (Chuck) and Phyllis (Campbell) Doll. Jan graduated East Leyden High School and went on to study Psychology at Loyola University Chicago where she met Mark Sladek. Jan was united in marriage to Mark on September 29th, 1979. They were blessed with two children (Todd and Claire) while they began their new life in Lombard and then moved to Glen Ellyn until they separated. Mark passed in February 2021.

Family was everything to Jan. Jan loved spending her time watching her grandchildren, Ava and Riley grow up while she resided with them. She was overjoyed by the recent arrival of a third grandchild (Lillian) and was expecting her fourth grandchild this upcoming August. She had an unconditional love for her grandchildren and family. She was strong in her faith and an active member of her Church (Peace Lutheran). She had many friends within the community. She had a special compassion for animals/pets. Jan was known for her kind heart, loving spirit, and selflessness for others.

Jan is survived by her two children, a loving Mother of Todd (Wendy) Sladek and Claire (Michael) Essig; Cherished Grandmother of Ava Sladek (8), Riley Sladek (6), and Lillian Essig (4 Months); Dear Sister of Kathy (Glenn) Linde; Fond Aunt of Kristine Mitchell, Sarah Linde, and Erin Chesney. And a family of friends.

A Visitation and Funeral Service is scheduled for Thursday, June 23rd, 2022 from 4-6pm for visitation and a service following at 6pm at Peace Lutheran Church (21W500 Butterfield Rd, Lombard, IL 60148).
