Betty L Howard (nee Eagleton) long-time Western Springs resident passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2021 at the age of 91. Born in Robinson, IL to parents Fred and Laura Eagleton, she started her career as a secretary and bookkeeper. She later became an executive and business owner. She volunteered her time with the Western Springs Historical Society from 1999 to 2008 and was president of the Western Springs League of Women Voters in the early 1960s. Betty loved to entertain at her Michigan summer home on Klinger Lake. She loved music, art and theater. She enjoyed travelling to Arizona to visit family, gardening and watching birds on her feeders. Friends and family knew her for her kindness, grace and generosity. She was a loving caregiver for her family and will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband Robert E Hummer; daughters Laura Hughes (Dennis) and Casey Stoppenbach (Danny); brother Robert Eagleton (Lottie); grandchildren Karla Clark (Ryan), Jacob Tennis (Saleen), Sarah Neill (Luke); nephew Peter Eagleton (Ruth); four great-grandchildren, and beloved step-mother and grandmother to the Hummer and Howard families. Her son Michael L Tennis and husband Charles L Howard precede her in passing. A family memorial will be held at a later date.
