Mary Louise Burny (nee Shaughnessy), 89 years young, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of April 9, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Mary Lou was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during the Great Flood of 1936. She was a proud Chicago resident for 89 years, where she met her late husband, Joseph. Together they raised their two children, Mary Catherine and Chuck. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, whom she loved passionately. Holidays and gatherings were where she truly shined. Her infectious laugh, dirty jokes and stories of days past were always the highlight of any party. She always knew how to bring the fun.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Mary Catherine (Bill) Borfitz and son Chuck (Tracie) Catino, four grandchildren, Joey (Jaime), Ryan (Bob), Allison, Charlie (Matt). Big Gram to twelve great-grandchildren and much loved Auntie to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, mother, Ingrid, father, Richard and sister Pat (Ken) Wyer.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday April 28, 2025 at 9 A.M. for a Memorial Mass to celebrate Mary’s life.
