Margaret Sue Smith age 83 of Downers Grove, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 12, 2024.

She leaves behind two children, Ernie Smith & wife Julie of Lisle, IL, Roger Smith & wife Kelly of Romeoville, IL; two siblings, Raymond Jeffrey of Manchester, KY, Doris Hensley of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren, Robert & wife Kathryn, Bill, Holly, Karley; four great grandchildren, Maxwell, Scarlett, Desmond, Louna; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howell Smith; her parents, Charlie and Jewell Speak Jeffrey; and by two siblings, Wilma Cloyd, Dean Smith.

Sue loved being out in her yard, planting flowers and tending to her hanging baskets. She enjoyed shopping and lunch dates with her best friend Louise. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her family. She loved baking cookies with her grandchildren and always looked forward to her grandson Bill’s lunch visits. She enjoyed countless hours on the phone with her sister Doris talking about anything and everything that was important in their lives. She also enjoyed reading and had a special fondness for anything strawberry with strawberry cheesecake being her favorite.

A funeral service honoring Margaret Sue Smith will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home in London, Kentucky at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Bobby Helton officiating. Burial will follow at the Pittsburg Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 beginning at 12:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Pittsburg Cemetery. Donations can be made through the funeral home.
